Most recently Rachel has been receiving Rolfing sessions from her Rolfer for some foot pain. The VA was running all the tests, and wanting to give all the pain medication. I am a strong believer in holistic health and when pain arises we should listen to it, as it is probably trying to tell us something. My foot pain, which the VA diagnosed as gout… Nope. Tension and tightness in my calves and feet from intense workouts! A couple sessions with my Rolfer and I am pain free!

Rolfing is a type of body work therapy, our aim is to work with the connective tissue to help release restriction and restore function and mobility to the body. This is done in a simple way, and yet very complex as wet ry to bring the body into alignment with gravity. The Rolfing practice can have positive affects on the body such as posture, less aches and pains, and can affect your emotional or psychological well being. 

Rolfing was known to be painful and similar to a deep tissue massage, but this is not the case. There may at times be some what I call “Pleasent Discomfort”, however, pain and discomfort is not the goal.

The benefits of using these holisitic practices is longterm health and well being. These modalities are something that you can learn from. You will not come out of these sessions the same as you went in. You may have more awareness. You may have less pain. You may have more ease and comfort. There is no real way to measure the change as it is so different for each person. I have been able to help with everything from depression to shin splints. My ideal client is someone who wants a partner on their healing path. All the modalities I work with are not something that is done to you. You dont just come in my office and jump on the table and check out. That may happen at times, as Rolfing and iRest can be very calming, but that is not the goal. The goal is for you to tune into your true self. To breathe and move with ease and comfort.
